California Supreme Court Visit
Watching live oral arguments and talking to the clerks and judges about their work is invaluable for those considering a path into appellate practice.
In 2024, a group of alumni joined us in the San Francisco Bay Area for an exclusive event at the Supreme Court of California.
First, they observed the oral arguments in Another Planet Entertainment, LLC v. Vigilant Insurance Company, which emphasized to students the direct and significant impact a case at the appellate level can have on society. Participants then had the opportunity to meet with Justice Goodwin Liu and his law clerks for a discussion. These experiences not only demystify the appellate system, but they also encourage our students and alums to see themselves in these spaces.
After the visit, participants gathered for lunch to debrief about their experience and build deeper connections with one another. Having a community to lean on throughout your legal career is an invaluable resource, especially for those from underrepresented backgrounds. This is just one reason why TAP values creating moments like these for our students and alums.
Thank you to the court for welcoming our group, and to the participants for traveling near and far to be there with us!
