Lunch with the D.C. Solicitor General's office

In November 2024, TAP alumni had the unique opportunity to visit the D.C. Office of the Solicitor General for a brown bag lunch.

Attendees met with TAP mentors Caroline Van Zile and Ashwin Phatak, and TAP volunteer Thais-Lyn Trayer to learn about their careers, strategies for pursuing appellate opportunities in the public sector, and insights into the day-to-day work of appellate practice within a local government agency.

Here's what TAP alum Ty Turley Trejo, Associate at Williams & Connolly LLP, had to say about how this event impacted him:

"Lunch with the D.C. Solicitor General’s Office was terrific. The SG herself and her two deputies attended and were forthright in their answers about what working in their office entails. I have an interest in appellate law so I was thrilled to be given an opportunity to meet and interact with such stellar advocates like those in the SG’s office. That is how connections are made and how a FirstGen lawyer like myself breaks through generational legacy barriers. All thanks to TAP!”

Thank you to the Office for hosting and helping to demystify this area of law!
